I. Preparation
1. Confirm Compatibility

2. Tool Preparation
Gather the following tools: socket wrenches (typically 10mm, 13mm, 17mm sizes), torque wrench, screwdriver, and jack (if vehicle lifting is necessary).
3. Vehicle Setup
Park the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and secure the tires with wheel chocks if required.
II. Installation Steps
1. Remove Underbody Panels or Trim
For certain models, start by removing the plastic underbody panels or trim beneath the rear bumper to expose the chassis mounting holes. Use the appropriate screwdriver or socket to remove the bolts or clips securing the panels, then carefully detach and set them aside.
2. Install the Tow Hitch Bracket
Align the tow hitch bracket with the pre-drilled mounting holes on the vehicle chassis (usually located on the rear crash beam or frame). Attach the bracket to the vehicle body with bolts and nuts, ensuring symmetrical placement. Tighten them initially but leave some slack for adjustments.
3. Install the Tow Hitch Main Body
Align the main hitch body (with the tow hook) with the mounting interface on the bracket, inserting it carefully and aligning the screw holes. Secure the hitch body to the bracket with bolts, ensuring a firm connection.
4. Connect Wiring Harness (if applicable)
If the tow hitch requires trailer light functionality (e.g., brake lights, turn signals), connect to the vehicle’s factory-prewired harness interface. Locate the wiring harness plug at the rear of the vehicle (typically on the trunk side or near the chassis), attach the hitch wiring harness plug to it, and secure with a clip.
5. Tighten All Bolts
Using a torque wrench, gradually tighten all installation bolts to the torque values specified in the official manual (e.g., Tesla recommends approximately 90–120 N·m; refer to the manual for exact specifications) to ensure the hitch is stable and free of movement.
6. Reinstall Panels and Test
Reattach the removed underbody panels or trim, securing them with bolts or clips. Check that the hitch is installed straight and gently tug the tow hook to confirm no looseness. If the wiring harness was connected, test the trailer lights by driving the vehicle briefly to ensure proper operation.
